With Luka Jović poised to join Real Madrid this summer in a €60 million deal, Chelsea, who were also interested in the Serbian striker, have switched their attention to David Neres of Ajax, according to PA Sport.
Chelsea are still hoping that the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) will overturn, or at least delay, FIFA’s decision to ban them from registering new players in two consecutive transfer windows, and they are acting accordingly by scouting the market for players that would fit their needs. One of those needs is a versatile attacking player as they prepare for the possibility of losing Eden Hazard this summer.
Maurizio Sarri doesn’t seem too worried by the prospect of the Belgian star leaving the club as he looks to put his own imprint on the team further, and Neres, who has impressed clubs all over Europe with fantastic Champions League displays, is a player Sarri and his bosses agree on.
However, the Londoners face stiff competition in the forms of Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Arsenal.
