Chelsea have launched an assault on Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian, Daily Mail has revealed.
The Blues have been following the young Brazilian for a while now and they have finally decided to materialize their interest.
According to Daily Mail, the Blues have made a £20 million bid for the player and are now awaiting a response.
Willian joined Shakhtar in a $19 million deal from Corinthians in the summer of 2007 and has since become an integral part of the starting line-up.
The Brazilian attracted attention from big European clubs with his scintillating displays in last year’s Champions League and Shakhtar now face a struggle to keep him at the club.
The player, who can play as a left midfielder or just behind the strikers, was a target for Arsenal in the summer, but the Gunners were not ready to meet Shakhtar’s £30 million valuation of the player.
The 23-year-old has been in good form this season, scoring three goals in eighteen league games, while adding another one in the Champions League.
