Premier League heavyweights Chelsea have reportedly approached Real Madrid over a potential summer transfer of Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The 24-year-old playmaker is looking for a change of scenery in order to get his career back on track following a disappointing spell at Real Madrid and Chelsea are said to be willing to offer him a chance to move to Stamford Bridge.
Mateo Kovacic is currently with Croatia in Russia where he features in all of the Vatreni’s World Cup matches thus far and is well poised to start against the host nation in a quarter-final match on Saturday.
Croatia can be found at 13/11 to win this game.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Chelsea have already contacted Real Madrid over a possible transfer with soon-to-be new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri identifying Kovacic as one of his main summer targets.
The Blues pack a quality midfield line with N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater all competing for places but Kovacic is seen as a vital creative spark Blues lack.
