Chelsea & Manchester City want Gimenez

According to a recent report from ESPN, Manchester City and Chelsea consider Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez to be one of their primary targets during the upcoming summer transfer window. It’s no secret that City want to try and bolster their defensive options, and when it comes to the Blues, their problems at the back have been well documented all season long.

There’s no escaping the fact that Gimenez’s days at Atletico are seemingly numbered, but as we’ve seen an awful lot in the last few years, they are more than happy to drag their feet when it comes to negotiating with other clubs.

Both teams are preparing to make substantial investments elsewhere during the next few months, and as such, you’d have to imagine that they will try and get Gimenez at a cheaper price.

For Atletico, though, that almost certainly isn’t going to be good enough considering his potential.
