Chelsea and Milan battle for Ricardo Rodriguez

The Sun has learned that Chelsea and Milan are keeping close tabs on Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez.

The Blues reportedly see the Swiss defender as a perfect long-term replacement for Ashley Cole, but they could face a stiff competition from the Rossoneri, who are also short of options on the left flank.

Max Allegri has already used midfielders Kevin Constant and Urby Emanuelson on the left-back position as well as right-back Mattia De Sciglio, and he is hoping to finally sign a natural left-sided defender.

Ricardo Rodriguez appears to be the first name on Milan’s hit-list, although the interested sides have been informed the 21-year-old will not be leaving in January.

The Switzerland international has been in fine form this season, having managed 3 goals and 2 assists in 16 Bundesliga fixtures.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg climbed to fifth place in the overall standings, and the Wolves are 11/4 to achieve a top 4 finish.
