According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Chelsea are currently following developments at fellow Premier League club Manchester City in the wake of City avoiding a transfer ban. The ban would’ve been imposed for breaching the rules on signing players under the age of 18, and due to a similar rule break, the Blues themselves were in fact handed a ban. Chelsea haven’t commented on the matter, but they are believed to be looking into the City situation one way or another.
It’s not yet known whether they plan on asking for City to be banned or for their own ban to be overturned, but either way, it seems like they could have a case if they push ahead with this.
Legal issues in the world of football can often go either way as we all know, so for now, all we can do is speculate on the matter.
