Chelsea are monitoring the situation around Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, according to Daily Express.
Manager Frank Lampard has obviously lost his faith in Kepa Arrizabalaga, despite the fact that Chelsea had to activate his buyout clause of €80 million when they signed him from Athletic Bilbao, making him the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. He now prefers 38-year-old Willy Caballero between the posts, and it seems inevitable the Blues will be in the market this summer for a new number one.
Ter Stegen’s contract with Barcelona runs until 2022, but Marca report that the Catalan club are keen to ward off any interest and that they’re preparing a new deal, with the aim of keeping the 27-year-old at Camp Nou for a long time yet.
Should Chelsea’s pursuit of the German ultimately prove fruitless, Lampard will consider Andre Onana of Ajax and Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan, though Donnarumma is reportedly wanted by Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain too.
