Chelsea is preparing a bid for Feyenoord player Jonathan de Guzman.
The Dutch midfielder is hoping to leave his club before the transferwindow closes, on Monday.
21-year-old De Guzman, who has Canadian roots, still has a contract till 2010 but Feyenoord wants to sell him because of the financial problems of the club.
Last year’s summer, Manchester City offered £ 12 million for the attacking midfielder but the Dutch side weren’t convinced by City’s bid.
Besides Chelsea also Valencia is on the market for De Guzman. However, because of the financial problems of the Spanish club they will first need to sell a player (Everton is seriously interested in midfielder Ever Banega) before they can sign De Guzman.
Feyenoord demands a transfer fee of about £ 4 million for its talented youth academy product.
