Chelsea open talks to sign Ajax star duo

Chelsea have started negotiations with Ajax to close the deals for Gregory van der Wiel and Christian Eriksen.

Chelsea are readying bids for Ajax stars Gregory van der Wiel and Christian Eriksen, as they look to add some fresh blood to their aging squad.

The Blues officials traveled to Amsterdam on Thursday to open talks with their Ajax counterparts, whereas they also used the opportunity to check on club’s famous youth school.

Gregory van der Wiel is currently regarded as one of the best full-backs in Europe, and while Bayern Munich are also keen on the Holland international, it is believed that he prefers a move to England.

The 19-year-old Eriksen is probably the hottest prospect in world football at the moment, although the attacking midfielder is eager to remain at Amsterdam ArenA for at least a couple of more years so as to fully develop as a player.

Chelsea are, however, expected to adopt an aggressive negotiating strategy and they look very close to clinching the signing of Gregory van der Wiel, whereas they will have to delve deep in their pockets if they want to sign Eriksen as well.
