Chelsea out of Alaba race

According to a recent report from ESPN, Chelsea are no longer in the running to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.

Alaba is set to be out of a contract this summer with Chelsea, for a long time, being tempted by the prospect of signing him on a free transfer. However, as has been reported over the course of the last few days, Chelsea aren’t interested in trying to meet his wage demands – which leaves a clear path for Real Madrid to swoop in and make an offer of their own.

Nobody can deny the sort of value someone like Alaba would’ve brought with him to Stamford Bridge, but it must be repeated that his wage demands were too high even for a club like Chelsea. If Real have the money necessary to make something happen then good for them, but perhaps it needs to be Alaba who alters his thought process here.
