Chelsea pondering bid for Alvaro Pereira; Real Madrid reject Tottenham offer for Diarra

Chelsea pondering bid for Alvaro Pereira

Chelsea have shown interest in Porto full-back Alvaro Pereira, according to A Bola.

The Uruguayan has been courted by a number of high-profile clubs following an impressive season with Porto, while his performances at 2011 Copa America saw his stock rise through the roof.

The 25-year-old has recently been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, but it appears that Chelsea have now joined the race.

Andre Villas-Boas is aware of the player’s qualities, having coached him at Porto and he sees the player as the perfect addition to Chelsea’s ageing midfield.

Pereira has a €30 million clause in his contract, but the Blues are hoping to lower the asking price.

Porto are reportedly ready to cash in on their star player, but are unlikely to sell him on the cheap.

The two clubs are set to open talks regarding the Uruguayan and A Bola believes the transfer will be completed before the transfer window closes.

Real Madrid reject Tottenham offer for Diarra

Real Madrid have rejected Tottenham’s initial offer for French midfielder Lassana Diarra, Marca reports.

Harry Redknapp is a keen admirer of the former Arsenal midfielder and he has instructed the club officials to try and bring him to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham wanted to take Diarra on loan, but after that possibility was rejected by Real Madrid chiefs, Spurs have made a transfer bid for the Frenchman.

Marca reports that the initial bid was rejected by los Blancos, but everything suggests that the English side will soon make a new proposal.

Real reportedly want €18 million for the France international, which is €2 million short of the fee paid for him when he arrived to Santiago Bernabeu from Portsmouth.

Paris Saint-Germain are another club interested in his services and Diarra was even seen at Parc des Princes last weekend, watching the Saints’ game against Lorient.

The 26-year-old has long ago decided to leave Real and he is reportedly keen on a Premier League return.

Michel Bastos decides to stay at Lyon

Lyon winger Michel Bastos has ended speculations linking him with a move away from Gerland by saying that he wants to stay at the club.

The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus this summer, but it looks as though he will be staying at Lyon for at least another year.

The Bianconeri had earlier made Bastos their number one target for the left wing position, but have dropped their interest after being unable to agree a transfer fee with Lyon.

The player himself has now admitted that he is likely to stay with les Gones.

“My Lyon friends, I would like to announce that I have decided to stay at Lyon,” Bastos said on his Twitter account.

“This is where I want to win titles.

”There is a new environment here, I never wanted to leave at all costs, I feel great here.”
