Antonio Conte is looking at defensive reinforcements despite a deadline-day transfer splurge worth £57 million for Marcos Alonso and David Luiz and is believed to have identified Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci as his top priority.
The 29-year-old Italy international’s stocks have seen a dramatic rise following a successful season with Juventus and noteworthy displays for Azzurri during the Euro 2016 in France with Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea already lining up behind him.
Pep Guardiola’s project has already tempted Bonucci according to player’s most recent confessions, but his former boss Conte is determined to reunite with Juventus defender and is reportedly ready to submit a record-breaking £60 million offer for the highly rated defender, according to reports from The Telegraph.
Roman Abramovic is apparently ready to sanction another substantial investment for the defender in January, which would also make Leonardo Bonucci the most expensive defender in football history.
