Chelsea rekindle interest in Valdes; PSG eyeing Riyad Mahrez

hot-transfer-newsChelsea rekindle interest in Valdes

Daily Mail is reporting that Premier League holders Chelsea are considering a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

The Blues are in problems after Thibaut Courtois suffered a difficult knee injury, as summer recruit Asmir Begovic is the only quality goalkeeper in the squad.

As a result, Jose Mourinho hopes to acquire Premier League’s approval to make an emergency loan signing, and it would appear as though Victor Valdes is the number one name on his wish list.

The Spaniard has seen very little playing time at Old Trafford and he does not have the best of relationships with manager Louis van Gaal.

At the same time, Mourinho is looking at Juan Pablo Carrizzo, Helton and Miguel Angel Moya.

Having recorded three successive victories to get their season back on track, Chelsea can be backed at 8/13 to win at St James’ Park.

PSG eyeing Riyad Mahrez

Le 10 Sport has learned that Paris Saint-Germain are the latest high-profile side to be showing interest in Premier League hotshot Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian has been arguably the league’s best player at the start of the new campaign, bagging five goals in six games to help Leicester City climb to fourth in the standings.

Barcelona and AS Roma are believed to be interested in the winger’s signature, while the latest reports are suggesting that PSG are keen as well.

France’s top sides missed out on an opportunity to sign Mahrez at a bargain price after he impressed playing for Le Havre in the second division, with Leicester City taking a gamble that has paid off big time.

PSG will now need to pay top dollar if they want to lure the Algerian back to France, that is if they can win the chase for the 24-year-old footballer.

Mahrez arrived at Leicester City two years ago from Le Havre and has so far scored 12 goals in 55 league appearances.

Brahimi’s release clause now €60m

FC Porto have moved to announce that star midfielder Yacine Brahimi has signed a new deal at Estadio do Dragao.

The 25-year-old had a brilliant start to his career in Portugal and in turn saw Europe’s top sides cast admiring glances his way.

As a result, FC Porto chiefs decided to act, rewarding their star player with a new and improved contract.

Brahimi also saw his release clause increased from €50 million to €60 million as the Dragons clearly hope to ward off interest in his services.

FC Porto announced the news in a statement to the Portuguese Securities and Exchange Commission.

Yacine Brahimi had joined the Dragons from Granada a year ago and went on to score 7 goals in 33 league appearances.
