Chelsea are reluctant to sign Karim Benzema in the January transfer window, according to The London Evening Standard. The report has claimed that former Real Madrid striker Benzema is pushing to leave Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in the January transfer window and is open to a move to a club in the Premier League.
However, Chelsea are reluctant to sign Benzema because of his wage demands. The French striker left Madrid for Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023. The 36-year-old striker has scored nine goals in 15 Saudi Pro League matches so far this season.
Chelsea are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 31 points from 21 matches. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are 12 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. The Blues beat Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge in London in the second leg of EFL Cup semi-finals on Tuesday. The London club will take on Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday.
