Chelsea are on the verge of signing Croatian midfielder Mario Pasalic from Hajduk Split, according to the player’s official representative.
The Blues have been keeping close tabs on the 19-year-old throughout the season and they already seem to have agreed a deal with his current employers.
The player’s agent Ivica Loncar has moved to reveal that his client has signed a deal with the Premier League side.
“Mario would like to stay at Hajduk for as long as possible, but the contract is signed and we have to respect the club’s wishes,” Loncar told Croatian magazine 24sata.
“Mario will be in London near the end of May to conduct medical tests and then we will know more about his future.”
Mario Pasalic is the latest talent to have come out of Hajduk Split’s famous youth school and he has exploded onto the big stage this season.
Despite operating as a central midfielder, the talented footballer has managed no less than 11 goals and 5 assists in 25 league outings, so no wonder his displays have caught the eye of Europe’s top clubs.
Teams from Italy, Spain and Germany were also in the race, but the player’s desire to work with Jose Mourinho eventually prevailed.
