Chelsea set to hijack Lemar’s Premier League move

The Premier League is often seen as the ultimate goal for many footballers, and AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar has a whole host of English top flight clubs fighting for his signature. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have have been heavily linked with the Frenchman, but now, according to the Evening Standard, reigning champions Chelsea have also joined the fray.

The Blues have had a slightly inconsistent season thus far, but they currently sit third in the table, level on points with rivals Manchester United. They do find themselves 11 points off leaders Manchester City however, and it is becoming increasingly unlikely that anyone will catch Pep Guardiola’s side.

One sure way to run City close though is to make a big name signing in January, and Thomas Lemar could be just that. The winger was instrumental in Monaco’s title-winning 2016-17 season, netting nine goals and adding 10 assists, and he could strengthen an already hugely talented Chelsea squad.
