Chelsea set to renew Stones interest in January

The Metro understands that Chelsea will again try to sign Everton defender John Stones in January.

The Blues remain keen on bringing in the England international, after failing in their attempts to lure him to Stamford Bridge during the summer.

Their last bid for the twenty-one year old was in the region of £37m, and with his current deal running until the end of the 2018/19 campaign, and his form this season so far doing nothing to harm his reputation it could take even more to tempt the Toffees to do business.

The former Barnsley man has appeared in all but two of his sides games so far this season taking his Everton appearance tally to sixty-five appearances in all competitions, with his only goal for the club so far coming in a win against Manchester United back in April.

He won his sixth senior international cap as Roy Hodgson’s men beat Switzerland 2-0 back in September and is bar any unforeseen circumstances almost certain to feature at next summer’s European Championships in France.
