Chelsea step up Havertz chase

According to a recent report from The Telegraph, Chelsea are interested in stepping up their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen sensation Kai Havertzi after he has featured for the club against Bayern Munich in the German Cup final on Saturday.

The 21-year-old’s current contract is set to run through until the summer of 2022, leading many to believe that the Blues will have to break the bank if they’re serious about getting a deal over the finish line.

While Chelsea haven’t been shy when it comes to spending big money already this summer, the popular opinion from many of their fans seems to be that they need to focus on their defensive problems.

They’re clearly talented when moving forward and the likes of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech will only improve that, but on the other end of the spectrum, they look like they’re about to concede whenever their opponents come forward.
