According to The People, Blackburn manager Mark Hughes is the new favorite to replace Avram Grant, who was sacked as manager of Chelsea last night.
Hughes appears to be owner Roman Abramovich’s first choice to replace Grant, moving in front of former Barcelona manager, Frank Rijkaard, who has also been considered for the vacant job.
Apparently, Grant’s failure to win a single trophy for the club cost him his job, having lost both the FA Cup final and Champions League final in the process.
The People further reveals that Abramovich is ready to offer Hughes a £3.5million-a-year deal to become the new manager.
