Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Porto’s star winger Ricardo Quaresma according to Sky Sports.
Reports in Portugal suggest that the winger is considering his future at Porto, especially after the clubs’ expulsion from the UEFA Champions League this season, and Chelsea are said to be ready to make a bid for the player.
Quaresma, 24, is often compared to fellow Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, with both players adopting a similar style of play. Both stars played together at Sporting CP before being sold at the same time to Barcelona and Manchester United respectively.
His speed and dribbling abilities could set alight the premiership in a similar style Ronaldo has done in recent times and his signing could be seen as the chance for Chelsea to have someone similar to the calibre of Ronaldo. Perhaps it is possible that Quaresma could become better
However, any club interested will have to pay around £24 million for the star, with Porto President stating: “Those who are interested must pay his £30 million buy-out clause”.
The news has alerted the likes of Internazionale and Real Madrid as well as Chelsea to Quaresma’s possible availability this summer.
