Reports in Italy suggest that Milan is closing in on agreeing a loan deal for Chelsea’s Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic.
According to press reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Galliani will be in London tomorrow to negotiate with Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon.
The Rossoneri are short of defensive options and are looking for cover for their injury-prone ageing stars. Alessandro Nesta and Kakha Kaladze have been sidelined by injury and captain Paolo Maldini is 40 years old.
Ivanovic arrived at Stamford Bridge in January, despite interest from Juventus, but he hasn’t had a chance to impress in West London and is reportedly keen to leave.
Chelsea are reluctant to part with a possible star for the future on a permanent basis, but a loan arrangement seems to suit both sides as Luiz Felipe Scolari doesn’t expect to use him in the coming season.
