Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is ready to launch an assault on controversial Real Madrid defender Pepe, The People has revealed.
The Portuguese defender is still considered a key part of the side at Santiago Bernabeu, but his controversial behaviour has seen him fall out with the club chiefs.
Pepe was to blame for several blatant fouls in the Copa del Rey clash with Barcelona, whereas he was also accused of faking injury on numerous occasions.
According to The People, Real Madrid chiefs are no longer prepared to tolerate his unprofessional behaviour and could decide to cash in on him in the summer.
The same source claims that Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is interested in signing the experienced defender, who can also play as a holding midfielder.
The Portuguese manager is not entirely satisfied with his defensive options despite signing Gary Cahill from Bolton some ten days ago.
Pepe joined Real Madrid for a reported fee of €30 million, but somewhat failed to justify the hefty price tag.
