Chelsea are trying to reopen negotiations with Eden Hazard over a new contract, according to The Telegraph.
At the moment, the situation seems to be that the Belgian is waiting to see if Real will make a move before engaging in a conversation with his current club about a new deal.
Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012, and since then he won the Premier League twice wearing their shirt, and his influence was crucial in both of those campaigns. Overall, he has appeared over 300 times for the club and scored just short of 100 goals from his role as a wide attacker.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have hit a crisis when it comes to scoring goals. They are failing to compensate for the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, and there’s little doubt a player like Hazard would be a most welcome addition at this point.
However, the crisis recently resulted in manager Julen Lopetegui getting sacked, and Chelsea are looking to make the most of their predicament by tying Hazard down with a new contract.
