Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi is a transfer target for Premier League giants Chelsea, according to reports from Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.
It was only days ago that 25-year-old Argentina international reiterated his desire to stay with Nerazzurri, adding that he will hold talks with the board to extend his sentiment.
Inter Milan have secured a place in the Champions League on the final day of the season after beating Lazio 3-2 in a pulsating match in Rome and Europe’s elite club competition is an argument Chelsea can’t use to persuade Icardi.
The Blues missed out on the Champions League spot for the 2018/19 season but still hope a deal involving Alvaro Morata and around €40 million in cash would be enough to persuade both Inter Milan and Mauro Icardi to change their stance.
Icardi bagged 30 goals in 38 competitive outings for Inter Milan last season.
