Chelsea want Upamecano

“I will speak well with my agents and my parents at the end of the season. And we will make the right decision.” 

Those are the short and sweet words of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano who has confirmed that he will wait until the end of the campaign to make any decision on his future – however, for clubs that are interested, they’ll almost certainly be getting to work before that.

The belief is that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants to overhaul the Blues’ defence during the summer transfer window, and in the wake of their performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this week, it isn’t all too hard to see or understand why.

Upamecano is said to be Lampard’s primary target heading into the summer and while there are likely to be more than a few clubs interested over the next few months, he’ll be hoping that they can sneak in ahead of the pack.
