According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Chelsea are aiming to spend big money – potentially upwards of £150 million – if their transfer ban winds up being lifted in time for the January transfer window. The Court of Arbitration for Sport is set to hear an appeal for the two-window suspension later on this month, as we continue to count down the minutes until the January window is actually upon us.
Three of the most notable names that the Blues are said to be going after are Wilfried Zaha, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell. All three would obviously add different elements to the club’s first team squad and their game plan, but whether or not they’re realistic targets is perhaps the biggest question of all.
Chelsea would almost certainly have that kind of cash available to them if they so desired, but that’s not really the point. All three players in question are considered to be equally as valuable to their respective clubs, and that could lead to Chelsea being priced out of any potential deals.
