Premier League holders Chelsea have been warned they will have to pay top dollar if they want to lure Shakhtar Donetsk hotshot Alex Teixeira to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues reportedly lead the chase for the Brazilian midfielder and they have already been in talks with his representatives.
The only thing left to decide is whether to make a move in January or at the end of the season, although it looks as though the asking price could rise by some £7 million between now and next summer.
Shakhtar Donetsk coach Mirceal Lucescu has moved to suggest that Chelsea would be better off trying to sign Teixeira at the earliest opportunity.
“Alex is now worth more than 40 million euros. I think at the end of the season – were he to continue with this performance – his value is 50 million euro.” Lucescu was quoted sa saying in London Evening Standard.
“If he were playing in a league more competitive, his transfer would be at the same level as that of Di Maria.”
Alex Teixeira, 25, has been one of Europe’s in form players this season, having managed impressive 22 goals and 3 assists in mere 15 league outings, while netting three times in six Champions League appearances.
