According to a recent report from the Mirror, Chelsea will need to make Leicester City star Ben Chilwell the most expensive defender in world football if they are to lure him away from the King Power Stadium.
The Blues’ interest in Chilwell has been well documented in recent months, with the majority believing that it’s only a matter of time before the potential deal becomes a reality. Alas, it still seems as if the two clubs are some distance off in their financial valuations of him, which could cause quite the stalemate.
The Foxes, who are set to compete in the UEFA Europa League next season, reportedly value Chilwell higher than they valued Harry Maguire. Given the fee that he left the club for, you’d have to imagine Chelsea need to prepare themselves for a hefty asking price.
Whether or not they’ll want to go through with it, though, is another matter.
