Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea have been heavily linked with Juventus left back Alex Sandro for some time now, but the Blues are now ready to place a £60m bid for the Brazilian, according to the Guardian.
The big money signing is perhaps an attempt to convince manager Antonio Conte to stay in London after reports that he wants to return to Italy at the end of the season. The Italian manager won the title in his first season with the club, but the change in culture and a disappointing summer transfer window has made him consider departing before his contract is up.
The player in question Alex Sandro has a goal and an assist in his four appearances for Juventus in the Serie A this season. The wingback would be a perfect fit in Conte’s system as he plays high up the pitch, but possesses more defensive qualities than Marcos Alonso, who he would be competing with for the starting role should he move to Chelsea.
This would be quite the transfer if it were to materialise, but whether it would be enough to keep Antonio Conte around remains to be seen.
