Chelsea are pushing hard to recall Emerson Palmieri from his loan at Olympique Lyon, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Firmly behind Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order, the Italian left-back joined Lyon on a season-long deal last summer. However, Chilwell has torn his ACL and won’t be playing again this term, and Emerson’s services are now needed.
However, Lyon aren’t too keen to let the 27-year-old leave. with 15 starts and one cameo appearance in Ligue 1, Emerson is obviously an important part of the team under Peter Bosz. They’ve already rejected the first approach from Chelsea, and the Blues are now working on another proposal. It will apparently include €4 million in compensation to be paid to Lyon to agree to end the loan six months early.
Chelsea have enquired about a loan possibility for Everton’s Lucas Digne, who reportedly want to leave Goodison Park, but the Toffees are apparently interested only in a sale.
Chelsea are trying to offer compensation around €4m to re-call Emerson Palmieri in January. Not easy – OL have already turned down their approaches two times. 🔵 #CFC
Chelsea also have a ‘plan B’ in the list. Emerson, always been the priority ⤵️https://t.co/iAfqYg3XOz
