Chelsea youngster Gael Kakuta has revealed that he plans to join Marseille on season-long loan this summer.
The 21-year-old was loaned to Ligue 1 side Dijon in January 2012, and he largely impressed during his loan spell, scoring 4 goals in 14 league appearances.
The talented midfielder has since returned to Stamford Bridge, but he is likely to be loaned once again due to the fierce competition for places at Chelsea.
Kakuta was initially reluctant to return to France, but he seems to have changed his mind after Marseille expressed interest in his services.
“This is an important moment of my career. It is better for me to leave the club and find one where I could play more matches,” the Frenchman explained to L’Equipe.
”Marseille is a club that I like. In France, Marseille are up there with Lyon and Lille, the three clubs that I am interested in most.”
Gael Kakuta joined Chelsea from Lens in 2007, with his transfer later causing huge controversy and seeing both the player and the club banned.
Kakuta has since amassed just 6 Premier League appearances for the Blues, while showing some promise during loan spells with Fulham and Bolton.
