Competition: Premier League
Market: Petr Cech to join Man Utd
Odds: 10/11 @ Betfair
Chelsea’s long-serving goalkeeper Petr Cech could well leave the club this summer, citing that he wants regular first-team football elsewhere. He sealed the Premier League title under manager Jose Mourinho, and is free to decide his future. Due to his incredible CV as a player, and his impressive ability between the sticks, the 33-year-old has a host of interested clubs ready to make an approach.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Besiktas are all alleged to have shown an interest in Cech, which means the experienced shot-stopper has strong options of where he will play his football for next season. Manchester United have the greatest need for a ‘keeper of Cech’s ability, as the Red Devils could be losing their first choice goalkeeper David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer.
They have former Barcelona man Victor Valdes as the deputy, but would also want another experienced goalkeeper to ensure they are fully strengthened in a key area for 2015/16. As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 10/11 for Cech to join Manchester United when the transfer window opens, but he would leave with a heavy heart given his 11-year association with Chelsea.
