Competition: MLS
Market: Chicago Fire win
Odds: 21/20 @ Bet 365
With a win on Thursday seeing either Chicago or Philadelphia jump into the playoff positions in the Eastern Conference, Veljko Paunović Men in Red’s will welcome The Union to Toyota Park.
Starting with Paunović’s side, although The Men in Red are coming off the back of a 3-2 loss away to Vancouver Whitecaps last time out, led by former Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger, Chicago came past Atlanta United to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the US Open Cup. Now with just one defeat since the start of May, part of their recent climb up the Eastern Conference has been the form of both Aleksandar Katai and Nemanja Nikolic. Along with the pair scoring 16 between them, the pair have now scored six in their last four combined.
As for Philadelphia, despite an impressive run of form between May and June, it appears that Jim Curtin’s side have slipped back to their old ways. Coming off the back of a 2-0 loss at home to runaway Western leaders Atlanta last time out, The Union also shipped four against Los Angeles FC a fortnight ago and Curtin’s side now hold the worst defensive record in the East.
