After month of speculation and negotiation, Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been given all clear to realise his move to the MLS side Chicago Fire.
The United Stated outfit and the German international have agreed on a move some time ago, but it was the Premier League club who stalled on a deal with Jose Mourinho being reluctant to let go of his fringe player.
The World Cup winner has endured a torrid time at Old Trafford this season with his playing time restricted to one Europa League performance and three domestic cup games for Red Devils.
Schweinsteiger is yet to be included in the Premier League this season.
The US media outlet Chicago Tribune is reporting that Schweinsteiger has agreed on a one-year designated player contract worth $4.5 million, which makes him one of the 10 highest-paid players in the MLS.
The deal between the 32-year-old and Chicago Fire includes mutual option for at least one more year.
