Great news for Major League Soccer! After departures from several big names from the league during the off-season, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney and Bastian Schweinsteiger, MLS will have a new big name signing that could help boost the league. According to Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Galaxy have agreed a three-year contract with Javier Chicharito Hernandez that will make the Mexican striker the highest paid player in MLS.
LA Times said this was confirmed to them on Friday, but the exact terms of the deal are not yet known. The player is expected to be officially announced as new Galaxy player sometime next week. Chicharito Hernandez is 31 years old and is Mexico’s all-time top scorer and joining a side from California will help boost their following among Mexican and Latin American fans.
He will also be another big Mexican star in an LA club, as Los Angeles FC have had a lot of success with Carlos Vela in the past two years.
