Giorgio Chiellini is set to join Los Angeles FC as a free agent, with his contract at Juventus officially expiring at the end of the month, according to Fabrizio Romano. The contract with the MLS side has been agreed and is set to be signed in the coming days.
Having started his career at Livorno, the battle-hardened centre-back played for Fiorentina and joined Juventus from there in 2005. He leaves at the age of 37 as the club captain and icon, having worn the club shirt on 561 occasions, with 35 goals and 26 assists to his name, along with nine Serie A titles, five Italian Cups and five Super Cups.
There’s no doubting the fact that he’s left a huge mark on Juventus and the Italian top flight, but he also played a huge part in Italy’s run to European glory in 2021, having represented his country 117 times.
The American adventure will surely be the last for the veteran defender as a professional player.
