Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini has set his team-mates a minimum target of a top four finish next season.
Juve are playing in the Europa League this season and will travel to Ireland to tackle Shamrock Rovers on Thursday in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie.
The Old Lady of Turin has been forced to begin the season a month before the rest of Serie A due to their ignominious seventh placed finish last season, despite having started the campaign with four stright wins and having been tipped by many for the title.
And Italy defender Chiellini is determined that the club’s star should not fall so low again, although he ruled out a title push.
“Our minimum objective is Champions League qualification,” he said. “We have shown the promise that we can be competitive again but let’s not think about Inter Milan because we’re not at their level and we’re thinking about ourselves.”
Juve suffered a disastrous season last time out, conceding a record number of goals and defeats in the league while they were also bundled out of the Champions League in the group stages following a humbling 4-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich.
