Chile host Peru at the Estadio Nacional de Chile in Wednesday’s World Cup CONMEBOL Qualifier, in a repeat of the summer’s Copa America semi-final.

Chile won in the last meeting, and are favourites to repeat the feat this week to boost their fledgling hopes of finishing the top-five to reach the inter-confederation play-offs.

Hosts Chile are currently seven in the CONMEBOL qualifying table with 11 points from nine games, having already suffered four defeats for their trouble. Despite winning the Copa America in the summer. Chile have since gone three games without a win in the qualifiers, and have a point to prove on Wednesday as a result.

Visitors Peru find themselves eighth in the CONMEBOL qualifying table with eight points from a possible 27, and have been short of wins of late too. The away side beat Ecuador in September, but it’s been their only win in the qualifiers since November 2015. On the road, Peru have lost all four games so they could come unstuck this week.
