Spain and Netherlands have been dubbed as favourites to progress from Group B, but Chile and Australia will give their best to defy the odds and qualify for the knockout stages. And while the Socceroos don’t seem to have quality or experience to match the top sides in the group, La Roja certainly have the potential to surprise.
Jorge Sampaoli’s charges will see their opening group fixture against Australia as a perfect opportunity to record a comfortable win and put extra pressure on their rivals for the top two places in the group, with La Roja relying heavily on Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez up front.
And with the highly rated striker tipped as the most likely player to open the scoring, Ladbrokes decided to enhance the odds on Sanchez to score the first goal in the Chile v Australia game from 4/1 to 5/1 for new and existing customers.
