Chimbonda set to sign for Tottenham

Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia has confirmed Pascal Chimbonda is undergoing a medical at his former club Tottenham Hotspur. The Black Cats have allowed Chimbonda to open talks with Spurs after admitting the full-back has struggled to settle in the North East.

The Frenchman signed at the Stadium of Light from Tottenham last summer, and has started 13 Premier League games since the switch. Sbragia said: “Since he came to the club he’s struggled to settle. We had an opportunity to maybe make things a little bit happier for him. He’s in London, he’s having a medical down there, but if it doesn’t work out, we’ll be pleased to see him back.”
