Chinese heavyweights Guangzhou Evergrande have joined the race for the signature of the Napoli star Marek Hamsik, hoping to beat Shandong Luneng to the Slovak international’s services.
Following a decade-long spell at the San Paolo Stadium, Hamsik is said to be ready for a change of surroundings and Fabio Cannavaro-led side Guangzhou Evergrande appear to have taken the pole position to sign him.
Cannavaro is a former Napoli player himself as is said to be holding a valuable edge ahead of Shandong Luneng.
Reports from Italy claim that Napoli would be willing to listen to offers for their star player but would not let him leave for anything less than €32 million.
Guangzhou Evergrande are reportedly keen on Dries Mertens but the Belgian will not be leaving for China as his wife appears unwilling to entertain the China idea.
