Top side Guangzhou retained their unbeaten status in the Chinese Super League following a 1-1 draw with second-placed Beijing Guoan.
Guangzhou had not lost in 16 matches this season heading into Monday’s top-of-the-table clash with Beijing at the Workers Stadium, and maintained their nine-point advantage over the challengers following the result.
After a scoreless first half, China striker Gao Lin broke the deadlock for Guangzhou in the 67th minute with his second goal of the campaign.
But Guangzhou’s lead did not last long, with Honduras striker Walter Martinez equalising for the hosts eight minutes later to ensure they earned a point.
Beijing remain nine points adrift of league-leaders Guangzhou, and just one point clear of third-placed Liaoning Hongyun.
