A brace from Brazilian forward Muriqui helped Guangzhou snatch a late 2-2 draw against Beijing Guoan in the Chinese Super League on Sunday.
The 24-year-old frontman struck one minute from full-time to help his team maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
They were the former Atletico Mineiro forward’s first goals for the season and forced Beijing to share the points after they had twice taken the lead.
Liang Xu struck against his former club with his first goal of the season in the 26th minute.
But Muriqui equalised seven minutes later before midfielder Xiaolong Wang gave Beijing the lead for the second time early in the second half.
And he proved to be the hero for the hosts as he capped a fine performance with the leveller in the 89th minute.
Guangzhou moved into fifth spot courtesy of the point, while Beijing Guoan sit seventh at the completion of the third round of games.
