Chivas Guadalajara president Jorge Vergara says starlet Marco Fabian is not for sale despite interest from Spanish and English clubs.
Fabian has impressed audiences in Mexico for some time now, but made a mark internationally when he scored two sensational goals in a 4-1 pre-season win over Barcelona.
That saw the Mexican linked with a move to both Barcelona and Manchester United, although interest from last season’s Champions League finalists has not been substantiated.
But Vergara claims possible offers would not be encouraged.
“There hasn’t been interest because we’re not interested in selling him,” Vergara said. “No clubs have been in contact, that’s not true.”
“Marco has a contract for five years. We want to keep him as he is a big part of our future.”
Chivas topped the league phase of the Mexican championship and now face Queretaro in the quarter-finals.
Chivas’ prolific youth academy has also produced Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, Arsenal forward Carlos Vela – currently on loan at Real Sociedad – and Fulham defender Carlos Salcido.
