Blackpool have confirmed the signing of striker Michael Chopra from Ipswich Town.

The former Cardiff City forward has signed a one-year deal at Bloomfield road after a two-season spell with Ipswich, in which he scored 19 goals.

A statement on Blackpool’s website read: “Blackpool can confirm that striker Michael Chopra has joined the club on a permanent deal from Ipswich Town.

“The 29-year-old has agreed a one-year contract with an option for a further year and will wear shirt number eight.”

Chopra has scored over 100 goals in a career that has included spells in the Premier League, and Blackpool will be his eighth club.

He becomes Paul Ince’s third signing of the close-season, with Bobby Grant joining from Rochdale and Gary McKenzie arriving from MK Dons.
