The 32-year-old defender Chris Samba is training with the Championship strugglers Aston Villa as Steve Bruce looks at the possibility of adding another number to his squad.
Former Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers defender had a trial with Crystal Palace but was not offered a contract and is now hoping to convince Aston Villa boss to offer him a contract.
Samba is currently a free agent following his release from Panathinaikos and is looking to add another chapter to his nomadic career which saw his go through two spells with Russian side Anzhi Makhackala, a half-season spell at QPR and stints with Dynamo Moscow and Panathinaikos.
Former Congo international made only six appearances for the Greek side before his contract was ended by mutual content.
Aston Villa could use an experienced addition to their back line after the club conceded 13 goals in last six weeks to find themselves sitting in 17th place in the standings.
