Brazilian side Sport Recife have completed the signing of defender Cicinho on a free transfer from AS Roma.
The 31-year-old became a free agent when his contract with the Giallorossi expired earlier this month and he has now decided to return to Brazil.
Sport Recife have announced the latest capture on their official website, with club president Gustavo Dubeux delighted to have signed such a high-profile player.
“Cicinho has a great CV and he is eager to play and demonstrate his talents,” said club president Gustavo Dubeux. “It was an easy negotiation that has been going on for some days.”
Cicinho left Brazil in January 2006 after winning the Club World Cup with Sao Paolo as he completed a €4 million transfer to Real Madrid.
The player spent two years at Santiago Bernabeu before joining Roma for a fee of €9 million.
However, his career at Stadio Olimpico never really kicked-off and following loan spells at Sao Paulo and Villarreal, the player ultimately decided to leave the club when his contract expired.
