Matthijs de Ligt’s future is still up in the air and everyone is trying to predict where will the centre-back move this summer. Ajax captain has been a target from several of the top European clubs, including Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Now, Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has admitted he has spoken to his compatriot Matthijs de Ligt about the 19-year-old’s future.
“I sat down with him to talk about all his options, but the same as I did with Frenkie [De Jong], I told him that the decision belongs to him,” Cillessen said, via the Mirror. “Matthijs is a good boy and he knows what he has to do. I talked to him, but I told him that I could not make the decision for him, he knows what he has to do.
“I can only talk about good things about Barca because it’s a great club and I have a great feeling with Barca. He is only 19 years old. Barcelona needs players with a very high level and he has the level to play there,” he added.
