Cissokho set for Liverpool switch

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Valenica defender Aly Cissokho on a season long loan, the Mail Online understands.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has been on the lookout for someone to provide competition for current first choice left back Jose Enrique, and has agreed to bring in the one-time France international on an initial twelve month deal, which could become permanent next summer.

The Reds had hoped sign Granada’s Guilherme Siqueria, but were unable to agree a deal for the Brazilian who is also a target of Real Madrid.

The 25 year old is set to become the third player to switch La Liga for Anfield following the arrivals of forwards Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto, while the club have also signed defender Kolo Toure and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Cissokho only moved to Spain last summer, having spent four years with Lyon in Ligue 1, during which time he won his one and only cap for his country.
