Roberto Mancini claims Manchester City have agreed a deal with Wolfsburg for Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko, 24, is regarded as one of the most sought-after forwards in European football after netting 66 times in his three seasons in the Bundesliga.
The former Teplice man was consistently linked with a move to the Premier League during 2010, and big-spending Manchester City have now emerged as the towering frontman’s most likely destination.
A fee of 27 million pounds has been mooted, with City coach Mancini announcing on Tuesday the player was a step closer to arriving at Eastlands – though personal terms are yet to be agreed.
“I can say that we have agreed with Wolfsburg,” Mancini said.
“I think that Dzeko is a good player. All the teams in Europe want him and everyone says he is a good player.”
“We must wait. When Dzeko is a City player we will talk about him.”
If the transfer goes through, Dzeko will join Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli among the first-choice strikers at Mancini’s disposal, with Emmanuel Adebayor, Jo and Roque Santa Cruz all likely to move on.
